چکیده

Abstract Using a stable isotope two- and three-source mixing model, we evaluated trophic contributions of reservoir-derived plankton, epilithon, terrestrial leaves to stream macroinvertebrates at two dam upstream four outlet reaches. We compared different habitat types co-occurring within the reaches: lotic habitat, bar-head lentic bar-tail isolated pond on sandy bars. Filter-feeders, which provide highest did not significantly differ among habitats, whereas collector-gatherers predators differed significantly. Thus, model analysis for indicated lower proportion plankton in than habitat. This difference food source composition was reflected contribution species. Macroinvertebrates habitats fed sources less mixed with plankton; therefore, impact reservoirs indistinctive community level, indicating that can function as refugia mitigate reservoirs. Our findings demonstrate heterogeneity potentially provides foundation determining webs while affecting communities when there is anthropogenic input resources

Variation of stream temperature among mesoscale habitats within stream reaches: southern Appalachians

Stream mesoscale habitats have systematic topographic relationships to hyporheic flow patterns, which may create predictable temperature variation between mesoscale habitat types. We investigated whether systematic differences in temperature metrics occurred between mesoscale habitats within reaches of small streams tributary to the upper Little Tennessee River, southern Appalachians. Surface w...

Fish Effects on Reservoir Trophic Relationships

To study the relationships between the biomass of reservoir communities and to examine the differences between reservoirs with different fish assemblages, we used limnological and fish data for 31 Argentinean reservoirs. Despite conspicuous systemic differences with lakes, reservoirs dominated by visual zooplanktivorous fishes have had phytoplankton biomass drastically higher than reservoirs wi...

Cattle Grazing Effects on Macroinvertebrates in an Oregon Mountain Stream

Cattle grazing effects on aquatic macroinvertebrates were assessed in a 4-year experiment of a mountain stream in northeastern Oregon. From 1996 through 1999, 10 cow–calf pairs were introduced into 6 experimental units along the stream for 42 days between July and September, and effects on aquatic macroinvertebrates were compared with 3 units in which no grazing occurred. Streambank and geomorp...

Influence of Stream channel morphology and in-stream habitats on fish community in Golestan province Streams

Four streams with different sizes were selected for studying the effects of environmental factors on fish assemblages using indirect (Detrended Correspondence Analysis, DCA) and direct (Redundancy Analysis, RDA) gradient analysis in Golestan province. DCA of presence-absence and relative abundance data showed well gradient and linear model of species variability. In the within-site RDA, environ...

Stream Habitats, Benthic Macroinvertebrates, Lotic Fish and Their Relationships: a Multi-scale Approach

A natural reach of montane stream (length 96 m and 7 m width) was grided into 150 cells (2 × 2 m). Density and biomass of fish (Salmo trutta L. and Cottus poecilopus Heckel) were estimated at each cell, as well as stream depth, current velocity, Froude number, bed granulation and its roughness were measured, and benthic samples from exposed bricks were collected from mid August to early October...
